This time last year reserves stood only at 22.4 million cubic metres, or 7.7 % of capacity.

Reservoirs this week  meassured at 137 million cubic metres, or 47 % capacity.

This has resulted in all water restrictions to be lifted  following the wettest January in six years, which has left dams almost 50 percent full, and ahead of the completion of planned desalination plants.

FINAL CONTRACTS SIGNED FOR LIMASSOL MARINA

Plans for the marina complex include 586 berths for craft of various sizes, resturants, cafes, shops and confernence space. They also include 280 units (housing, trading, leisure and cultural) - some 160 which have their own private moorings, and luxry apartments, all with the aim of attracting more high end tourists and a bigger share of the Mediterranean yachting market.

The project is expected to cost more than 350 million Euros and will cover land area of 100,000 m /sq and sea area of 170,000 m/sq and will host be able to host up to 1,000 vessals

During the contract signing ceremony, Mr Paschalides referred to the huge importance taht the marian is expected to have for improving the tourist product and atrracting quality tourism to the island.

The New International Airport opens in Larnaca

The new International Airport went into operation on Tuesday, starting with flights of Cyprus Airways and Easeyjet  exclusively.The other airlines will transfer their arrivals and departures to the new terminal by the 17th November.

At an estimated cost of 656.3 million euro, the new 10,000 square meter terminal features 67 check in counters, 14 airline ticket desks, 8 check in kiosks, 16 air bridges, 7 sercurity points, 5 aircraft baggage conveyor belts, and parking spaces for 2.450 cars while its annual passenger capacity is 7.5 million.
